We have had the best year with wwoofers. All of them have been wanting their 2nd Work Visa, and have stayed with us for 88 days. Originally we offer a stay of a week to see how you will fit into our lifestyle, and we have been so lucky. Our young english lass has only 2 weeks to go, and we are seriously thinking of adopting her!
So, when you are thinking you might like to wwoof at heavy rock, you must like animals -particulary dogs.
I cannot stress this enough. Our dog is not a working dog, he is a family member. If you are at all hesitant about dogs, do not worry - there are plenty of wonderful wwoof hosts without dogs.
Another word of advice. Farmers work all year for their season. This season might only last 16 weeks out of 52 weeks in the year. Therefore, they do not get paid until the season. Most aussie farmers cook from the garden, make their own jams, sauces, sweets, etc.
So if you crave something that is not on the shopping list, you will have to buy it for yourself. Don't worry, you will be fed extremely well! So well, that weight gain is only negated by paddock work (lol).
So for all of the wwoofers out there, we welcome you to Australia, and hope your time here is amazing as our time as hosts have been.
